Habakkuk 2: 1-4

“...'WRITE the VISION and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it" Habakkuk 2:2b

VISION is vital for LEADERSHIP IMPACT: "Then the Lord answered me and said: 'WRITE the VISION and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry'" (Hab.2:2-3). Vision is a crucial element of impactful leadership. The devotional passage highlights the importance of a vision’s clarity and communication. A leader must discover, clearly articulate, and pursue the vision so that everyone understands the direction and works towards the common goal with purpose.

Vision is the faculty of being able to see. Vision is the "unveiling of Purpose," while purpose is the reason for being of anyone or anything. Divine Vision is therefore a divine Picture with a divine Purpose. Vision is the unfolding of God’s Plan or Purpose for an individual or an organisation. Leaders must have a clear, divinely-guided vision to prevent people from losing direction: "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he" (Pro.29:18, KJV). The "vision" here refers to divine revelation or prophetic guidance, which, when absent, leads to a lack of moral direction and societal decay.

Lack of Visionary leadership leads to destruction. Our Lord Jesus described the Pharisees: “Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch” (Matt.15:14). An impactful leader needs God's guidance to lead effectively. It’s crucial to seek divine guidance and wise counsel in defining and pursuing a vision: "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety" (Pro.11:14). Leaders who rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit and a multitude of wise advisors are more likely to make sound decisions and lead successfully.

The Apostle Paul was committed to divine vision: "So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision” (Acts 26:19). His example shows how a powerful, life-transforming vision from God can drive a leader's actions and mission despite opposition. Moses was called by God on a clear mission: “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt” (Exo.3:10). He cast a vision of liberty and the promised land, guiding his people to fulfil purpose. Nehemiah had a vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. His leadership, rooted in prayer and a deep devotion to God's will, mobilized the people to achieve a seemingly impossible task, signifying the power of a shared vision.

Impactful Leadership is inseparable from a clear, God-given vision, which provides purpose, direction, unity, and motivation.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
