POWER TO RESTORE

And I WILL RESTORE to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you – Joel 2:25

While embarking on an expansion project under the permission and in the company of Elisha, the sons of the prophets ran into a problem: they lost the borrowed axe head! Lesson: working for God, in obedience to Him and walking in His will do not necessarily immune from facing challenges. Some believers, the moment they encounter obstacles, begin to doubt if God was still in their life’s affairs. Unfortunately, some have backed out of God’s will or instruction because of such problems. Whenever you set out to do God’s will, do not be surprised that Satan will attack or oppose. Any assignment, endeavour or ministry that is not fought by satanic powers is of no threat to them and therefore of little or no heavenly value.

The more important the assignment is to God, the more vehemently the devil is likely to attack it with every weapon at his disposal. It is doubtful if God is in an assignment, project, or mission where you never encounter some form of challenge or opposition! Trials will surely come; what is important is that you triumph in all of life’s trials. Remember: challenges make champions. Problems sometimes provide the platforms for our progress and promotion. The believer has been empowered in Christ to overcome challenges, trials, troubles and tribulations. Do not ever because of temporary challenges, call it quit from an initiative, project, marriage, or task that you had the assurance that God had been in from the beginning.

After the apprentice-prophet spotted where the axe-head fell in the Jordan, Elisha cut a tree branch and hurled it in. The natural tendency is for a piece of wood to float on water and iron to sink. In this instance however, by the Power of the Most High, the wood having been sent on a prophetic errand, assumed a supernatural form in order to perform an assignment. As soon as it entered the Jordan River, supernatural magnetism came into play: the missing axe head began to float!

God specializes in performing miracles that people call impossible. He is able to reverse the irreversible. He is able to rectify whatever is amiss in your life today. He is willing to restore whatever had been lost to Satan’s attacks. He has promised to “restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm…” (Joel 2:25). By the supernatural power of the Almighty, your axe-head will re-surface. Your lost resources of time, talents and treasures, and life’s opportunities will be restored. Whatever good thing you have lost shall be recovered. Put your trust in the Lord and call upon Him in faith. He will make a way where there seems to be none. This is your season of restoration!
