FROM GLORY TO GLORY

“But we all, seeing the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, as in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from GLORY to GLORY by the Spirit of the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 3:18

The Realms of Glory never permit or admit lethargy and stagnancy. In God, it is always FROM GLORY TO GLORY: “But we all, seeing the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, as in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord” (2Cor.3:18). The Realms of Glory are realms of dynamism, movement, progress, and vitality.

Notice that the Bible does not say “from mess to glory” or “from shame to glory”; it says “from glory to glory”! In other words, God has ordained that we rise from a current realm of glory to a higher realm; from a current glorious place to another higher glorious place. Yes, God by His Mercy, can move a person from a messy situation into an atmosphere of miracles. This is His specialisation: “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the THRONE of GLORY…” (1Sam.2:8a). Jehovah sets “the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock” (Psa.107:41). He “raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that he may seat him with princes – with the princes of His people” (Psa.113:7-8). Praise God, He is the Lifter of our heads and the Promoter of our Destinies! He appoints for us praise and fame wherever we were put to shame (Zeph.3:19).

This passage is however not describing a lifting from shame to fame or from mess to glory. God is also the Lifter “from glory to glory” – from bright light to brighter light; from a depth of love to deeper dimensions of love; and from a measure of life to greater measures of life. There is never a diminishing facet to the Glory of God. It is about ever-shining light: “But the path of the just is like the shining sun that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (Pr.4:18). It is about ever-increasing strength: “They go from STRENGTH to STRENGTH; everyone of them appears before God in Zion” (Psa.84:7). However glorious your present level in life may seem to be, there is always a higher and greater glory to envision and press into. There is no room to settle on status-quo. God told Moses: “You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward” (Dt.2:3).

In Paul’s reference to “unveiled face” or “open face,” the word “open” is the Greek word anakalupto, which means to unveil, to uncover or to disclose. The Greek tense however suggests the notion of a veil that, once lifted, remains lifted forever! The word “changed” is the Greek word metamorpho, a compound of the words meta and morphoo. The word meta carries the idea of an exchange, while the word morphoo is the Greek word for a person’s outward form. Together, the compound word means to transfigure or transform one’s appearance. The Holy Spirit is letting us know that we can actually exchange our present appearance or current status, for one that is more glorious. If you’re willing to remove the veil from your eyes and let the Holy Spirit really show you the areas where you need to be transformed, He will change you. And as this transformation begins to work in you, you will become more and more prepared for upward movement and promotion in your life.

In Christ, I have been called to CHANGE, to be TRANSFORMED, to press passionately into higher realms and deeper dimensions in God. There is no looking back with regrets; to looking sideways in distractions; and no looking down in depression. It is forward and upward ever! Because I sincerely desire it, I will move upward and into the glory that God has prepared for me! My Destiny is an ever-unfolding Story of Glory – from GLORY to GLORY!
