PRINCE OF PEACE

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And HIS NAME will be CALLED Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, PRINCE of PEACE

– Isaiah 9:6

The Name of the Son of God is loaded with multi-faceted divine mysteries. His Name is full of wonders, abundant in counsel, immense in power, and eternal in Fatherhood. JESUS our Lord is also called “the Prince of Peace.” He is the powerful Prince of the Paradise of Peace. What this implies is that He is the Controller, the Giver and the One who sustains and nourishes peace of mind and peace of earth. He controls all dimensions of peace – be it in the mind, home, city or nation. Verse 7 goes us to say, “Of the increase of His government and PEACE there shall be no end…” Whereas the world’s offers of ‘peace’ are temporary and transient, God’s Peace is eternal, ever-increasing, perpetual, and unending.

More than the mere absence of problems; peace is the Presence of the Person of the Prince of Peace! Today, let us hail the Prince of Peace in the words of Wesley’s hymn:

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings, Risen with healing in His wings.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Source and Sustainer of Perfect Peace. Outside of Him, life is full of frustration, confusion, and crisis. Nothing in the world offers peace. All the world has to offer are troubles, conflicts, panic, and pain (Jh.16:33). In Christ – the Prince of Peace – is the guarantee of Peace – perfect and permanent! In Him, Peace is personalized. When you believe in, trust and obey Him, His Perfect Peace becomes your perpetual portion!
