WHAT IS YOUR SPIRITUAL DIET?

Bible Meditation:
Proverbs 4: 10-27

“…Just as what goes into your mouth feeds your physical body, what goes into your eyes and ears feeds your spirit and soul.

If you have a diet of primarily “spiritual junk food,” you are actually harming your soul and spirit and contributing to poor health in those areas. If this is true, the supernatural power of God cannot rest upon you the way God wants it to…

The statement that “you are what you eat” applies both to the physical realm and also to the spiritual realm. Almost every professional athletic team has a full-time dietician. Those professional organizations are willing to spend money on this, because they know that in order to be healthy, vigorous athletes, team members must eat wholesome food. If these professional teams ate nothing but junk food, their stamina, energy and strength would decrease to where they could not perform optimally for the entire game…

These athletes are willing to sacrifice to get good physical condition. They train for hours each day, get extra sleep, avoid junk food and give up much of their social lives. What do you think a Christian would be like if he or she made the same sacrifices?

One important point to note here is this: if I have an apple sitting in front of me, I can make a decision to eat it or not. However, if I decide to eat it and I actually chew it up and swallow it, I no longer have a choice. That apple will become part of me. It will become part of my blood, my flesh, my organs, my bones and even my brain cells.

Please let that principle sink in. It is only before I consume a food that I have a choice as to whether or not it is going to become a part of me. After I have eaten it, I have no choice in the matter at all. The reason this principle is so important is that the same thing is true in the spiritual realm.

…If you drive a nail into a fencepost, you can pull the nail out again, but it will leave a hole. There is no denying the imprint that that nail had upon the post. The consequences remain. There are consequences that come with the decisions and choices that we make of what to eat with our eyes and ears. What we choose to take into our being as part of our “spiritual diet” will become part of us.”

Prayer:
Lord, help me to make daily decisions and choices of spiritual diet that would enhance and not hinder the flow of Your power in my life!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
